capt driver for Canon LBP-810 and LBP-1120

The driver was developped by Nicolas Boichat.

I debianized it for easy (maybe...) installation under Debian. Be aware that the driver is still unstable and buggy. It works fine most of the time, but there are several issues with it. Nicolas Boichat does not seem to maintain it any more; I'll try to fix the main issues myself when I have time.

The package is only for i386 architectures. If you need it for another architecture, please .

For the moment, the package is targeted at cups. However, you can use it without cups, thanks to the capt-print script. I have not tried this script much; it is part of the driver. I think cups is far a better solution.

Download and Installation

Debian

Using my Debian repository

  1. Add the following lines to your /etc/apt/sources.list:
    #for cups capt driver
    deb http://debian.are-ata.org/ all main
    deb-src http://debian.are-ata.org/ all main
  2. update your list
    apt-get update
  3. then install the driver using apt-get:
    apt-get install cupsys-driver-capt
  4. do not forget to read the file /usr/share/doc/cupsys-driver-capt/README.Debian.

Direct download of the package

  1. Download the latest cupsys-driver-capt package directly
  2. Install the package using dpkg:
    dpkg -i cupsys-driver-capt_<version>_i386.deb
  3. do not forget to read the file /usr/share/doc/cupsys-driver-capt/README.Debian.

Manual installation

  1. Download the driver
  2. Read the file README for build instructions

Ubuntu

It seems that Ubuntu uses different names than Debian for USB printer devices. If the printer does not print anything, you have to modify the file /etc/capt.conf : change the line

DEVICE=/dev/usb/lp0

by

DEVICE=/dev/usblp0
